Strategically located at the heart of the European Union, Jones Day’s Brussels Office provides a broad array of services to assist the Firm's national and global clients in negotiating the EU's complex legal environment, as well as national-level regimes in Belgium, across Europe, and worldwide. Since its establishment in 1989, the office has emerged as one of the largest of any U.S. law firm in Brussels.

Our wide-ranging offering to clients encompasses EU and Member State competition law (merger clearances, state aid, cartels, and abuse of dominance); cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection (including data protection audits and international data transfers); sector-specific regulatory issues in the cutting-edge sectors of life sciences (including pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics); environmental health and safety (including REACH legislation, WEEE, and RoHS); and international trade and national security (including EU and WTO trade law). We regularly represent clients before the European and national courts, as well as EU and national regulatory authorities.

The Brussels Office also has significant experience in multinational transactions (M&A, joint ventures, "greenfield" investments), corporate/commercial matters, capital markets, projects and infrastructure, litigation and arbitration, real estatetax planning and corporate structuring, and labor and employment law. We also have deep industry-specific knowledge in consumer products, electronic communications, technology and media, energy and renewable energy, financial services, and transportation (automotive, aviation, rail).

The Brussels Office embodies Jones Day's core principle of "One Firm Worldwide," offering our clients the strength of seamless access to the Firm's global resources. Our lawyers are part of an integrated worldwide organization of more than 575 lawyers in ten key business centers throughout Europe and over 2,500 lawyers worldwide.

The Brussels Office has grown steadily across a range of practice areas over the past years, bringing together lawyers hailing from jurisdictions worldwide, but who all share a firm grounding and experience in Brussels. Our regulatory, transactional, and litigation practice lawyers are annually recognized by Chambers and other legal directories as leading practitioners. The Brussels Office serves as headquarters for Jones Day's European Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, with some 40 lawyers in eight cities.
