Emily Tait is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on intellectual property and technology litigation, dispute resolution, and related counseling. She has substantial experience handling patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation in federal courts across the United States, as well as cases involving cybersecurity breaches, software theft, and data piracy. Her matters have encompassed a diverse array of technologies, including vehicle diagnostic and calibration software, financial technologies, engine parts, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, electronics, semiconductor chips, and consumer products. Through her client engagements and location in Detroit, Emily has developed a deep understanding of emerging issues in the automotive and autonomous vehicle space.

Emily also assists clients with evaluating and enforcing their IP rights through licensing and other business solutions. She provides counsel on software registration and enforcement strategy, IP development and joint venture agreements, and the IP aspects of merger and acquisition transactions.

Emily has participated in appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She is a Fellow of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and served on its board of directors from 2013 until her term expired in 2017. She co-founded the Michigan Intellectual Property American Inn of Court in Detroit and continues to serve the Inn as a member of the executive board (currently as president-elect) and a "Master of the Bench." She also has written and spoken on a variety of IP issues.
