U.S. Marine Corps veteran granted permanent and total disability rating
Client(s) Marine Corps Veteran
Jones Day represented a U.S. Marine Corps veteran before the Department of Veterans Affairs through the Firm's Vetlex program. Since his honorable discharge in 2006, the veteran has suffered from multiple service-related conditions, including permanent spinal and neck damage, chronic pain, PTSD, major depressive disorder, and bilateral hearing loss. Despite these injuries, he had been unable to secure many of the VA benefits to which he was entitled and had received numerous claim denials before connecting with Jones Day in 2022.
Jones Day filed multiple claims and appeals on the veteran's behalf, including a second Supplemental Claim in December 2025. Because of Jones Day's advocacy, the VA recently granted the veteran a 100% permanent and total disability rating—the highest schedular rating available—along with eligibility for Dependents' Educational Assistance, substantial back pay, and a doubling of his monthly disability benefit.
