Protecting Your Intellectual Property: Current Strategies for Safeguarding Innovations, Creative Works, and Trade Secrets
This interactive program equips in-house counsel with updates on a concise survey of significant developments shaping intellectual property protection today. We will examine recent federal and state decisions, regulatory initiatives, and administrative rulemaking that impact the way companies secure and enforce patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
As the tension between technological acceleration and legal adaptation is especially apparent in the arena of artificial intelligence, our program will address the headline questions of whether—and to what extent—works generated with AI assistance qualify for copyright; how inventorship is determined when machine learning contributes to an innovation; and whether developers must obtain permission to ingest proprietary data during model training.
The panel will also discuss foundational shifts in the intellectual-property landscape, including the Executive Branch’s ongoing review of post-grant procedures at the USPTO, the evolving standards for identifying and pleading trade secrets, and the extraterritorial reach of the Defend Trade Secrets Act. Throughout, the panel will share practical strategies for portfolio management, risk avoidance, and litigation.
You will leave with a better understanding of significant legal developments affecting intellectual property rights and practical tools to safeguard your organization’s core intellectual assets in the face of rapid technological change.
