Corporate transactions partner David C. Lee joins Jones Day in Irvine

The global law firm Jones Day announced today that David C. Lee has joined the Firm as a Partner in the Corporate Practice. He is based in Jones Day’s Irvine Office.

Mr. Lee structures and negotiates domestic and cross-border transactions on behalf of corporations, venture capital firms and private equity funds. He has advised on mergers and acquisitions, private placements, initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, recapitalizations, take-private transactions, hostile takeover defense and other complex corporate transactions. Mr. Lee also handles equity and debt capital markets offerings on behalf of both issuers and investment banks. He has experience in a wide range of industries, with a particular focus in life sciences, energy and technology sectors.

"David has advised sophisticated corporations, private equity firms and venture capital funds on their strategic investments and acquisitions throughout the investment lifecycle,” said Andy Levine, co-chair of Jones Day’s Corporate Practice. "On the heels of M&A partner Bret Stancil’s arrival in Silicon Valley, David’s breadth of experience in corporate transactions is an excellent complement to our corporate team in California and we are delighted to welcome him to the Firm."

At Jones Day, Mr. Lee joins the Firm’s global Corporate Practice, which encompasses M&A and Private Equity. In the last five years, Jones Day has advised clients on more than 3,000 M&A transactions collectively valued at $1.5 trillion, and many of the world’s leading private equity funds are counseled by Jones Day in the full range of corporate transactions.

"David has earned a reputation as a go-to corporate lawyer for his clients’ most important sales, acquisitions, licensing agreements and other key transactions," said Erin L. Mr. Lee earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, his MBA from Northwestern University and his undergraduate degree from U.C. Berkeley. He has been recognized in Who’s Who Legal for "Capital Markets" and was selected as a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers for "Mergers & Acquisitions." Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Lee served as a CPA in the audit and valuations departments of a Big Four accounting firm, and as Vice President of Finance at a Fortune 500 energy company.
