Hospital system obtains total dismissal in dispute with vendor's ex-CEO

Client(s) University Hospitals Health System Inc.

Jones Day secured a complete victory for University Hospitals Health System Inc. ("UH") on appeal at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The case involved tortious-interference claims brought against UH by a former vendor's CEO, who claimed that UH induced his termination. At the district court, Jones Day helped UH win summary judgment on the grounds that University Hospitals had not, in fact, procured the former CEO's termination. When the former CEO appealed, Jones Day again handled the case at the Sixth Circuit. In a 3-0 decision issued without oral argument, the Sixth Circuit affirmed the dismissal in full on legal grounds.
