Jones Day continues growth of Financial Markets Practice in Germany with partner in Frankfurt

Jones Day announced today that Dr. Jasmin Dettmar will join the Firm’s Frankfurt Office as a partner in its Financial Markets Practice. Dr. Dettmar is a leading German finance lawyer who advises financial sponsors, including private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as debt funds, banks, and strategic investors, on financings at all levels of the capital structure. Her arrival deepens the Firm’s ability to deliver seamless, market-leading acquisition finance, leveraged finance, and financial restructuring advice to clients in Germany, across Europe, and around the world.

Expanding its presence in Germany is a central element of Jones Day’s strategy. The Firm is investing in the practice areas that matter most to its clients, including its Financial Markets Practice, which has grown by four partners within a short period, and will continue to invest in other areas, including M&A, Corporate, and Litigation.

“Jasmin is one of Germany’s most highly regarded finance lawyers, and her arrival is another important milestone for Jones Day in Frankfurt and across Europe,” said Ansgar Rempp, Partner-in-Charge of Germany for Jones Day. “Her deep relationships with private equity and private credit funds active in the German market, combined with her experience on cross-border transactions, will benefit clients throughout our network in Europe and globally. Drs. Christoph Wolf, Jörg Weber, and Arne Klüwer have already joined our Financial Markets Practice this year as partners. Together, these additions underscore our ambition to build a leading practice in Germany that is closely integrated with the Firm’s worldwide platform.”

Dr. Dettmar has nearly two decades of experience advising on a broad range of domestic and cross-border transactions, including acquisition financings for private equity funds, corporate financings, bilateral and syndicated loans, and financial restructurings. Her wide-ranging experience in both new money financings and restructurings enables her to provide comprehensive, commercially focused advice. Her notable engagements include advising Tikehau Capital on the acquisition financing for TTSP HWP Group, 3i Group plc on the acquisition financing of MAIT Group, and Astorg on the financing of its acquisition of Attikon Finanz AG. She also advises leading private credit funds, such as Barings, Arcmont, Capital Four, Bain Capital Credit, and H.I.G. WhiteHorse, on acquisition financings, recapitalizations, and financial restructurings. She also gained in-house experience in leveraged finance at a major German bank.

“Jasmin is an outstanding addition to our Financial Markets Practice and to the Firm,” said Alban Caillemer du Ferrage, chair of the EMEA and APAC regions of Jones Day’s Financial Markets Practice. “Her experience representing both sponsors and lenders on leveraged and acquisition financings, and her command of complex restructurings, give her a perspective on the full credit cycle that clients increasingly value. She brings exactly the kind of practical, sophisticated judgment that strengthens our ability to serve private equity, private credit, and bank clients on their most important transactions in Germany and across Europe.”

Dr. Dettmar is ranked among the leading individuals in Banking & Finance in Germany by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe (2026), where clients have described her as “one of the best lawyers I’ve worked with.” She is also frequently listed as a top Banking & Finance lawyer by Handelsblatt and The Legal 500. Dr. Dettmar earned her Dr. jur. (2006) and passed her First State Examination (2004) at the University of Bayreuth, and passed her Second State Examination in 2007. She was admitted to practice in Germany in 2008.

“I am delighted to join Jones Day, a firm whose true partnership and one-firm culture set it apart,” said Dr. Dettmar. “Jones Day’s seamless collaboration across offices and practices, from Financial Markets to Private Equity, M&A, and Restructuring, will allow me to bring my clients integrated teams that combine strong local presence with global reach. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in Frankfurt, across Europe, and around the world to help clients execute their most important financings.”
