Femern seeks project counsel in multi-billion euro claims by contractor consortia on Fehmarnbelt mega-project, world's largest immersed tunnel

Client(s) Femern A/S

Jones Day advised Femern A/S ("Femern"), a Danish company charged with ensuring the construction of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link, a 18 km tunnel under the Baltic Sea connecting Denmark and Germany. A flagship European infrastructure project feat of engineering, the €7.4 billion Fixed Link includes a four-lane motorway and a high-speed railway and will be the longest sub-sea immersed tunnel in the world when completed. Jones Day is acting as project counsel for Femern as well as party representative in several Dispute Review Board and arbitral proceedings against Femern Link Contractors ("FLC") and Fehmarn Belt Contractors ("FBC"), the consortia of contractors, concerning design, construction, delays, prolongation, variations and technical issues among other issues.
