Jones Day strengthens global disputes capabilities with addition of major projects and construction partner Clive Luck in Perth

Clive Luck has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Global Disputes Practice. He is based in the Firm's Perth Office. Mr. Luck brings more than 25 years of experience advising clients across all stages of the procurement and construction process, from contract documentation to risk management strategies and dispute resolution.

Mr. Luck's practice focuses on major engineering, infrastructure, resource, energy and energy transition projects in Australia and across numerous African and Asian countries. Among other notable engagements, he advised a leading independent power producer on multifaceted energy transition solutions for a major global mining company across multiple Western Australian mining sites; advised one of the world's largest gold producers on a USD$500 million gold mining project in West Africa; and represented major EPC contractors in relation to an AU$80 billion LNG project.

"Clive is a world-class disputes lawyer whose breadth of experience across major projects, construction and international arbitration makes him an exceptional addition to our growing team," said Sion Richards, leader of Jones Day's Global Disputes Practice. "His ability to navigate complex cross-border disputes in the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors and his geographic focus on Africa align perfectly with our commitment to serve our clients' international needs in these vital sectors, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Firm."

At Jones Day, Mr. Luck joins a team of more than 200 lawyers in the Global Disputes Practice, who are located in more than 25 business centers worldwide. The group serves clients in the most challenging jurisdictions around the world and in some of the highest-value disputes in those jurisdictions. He will collaborate with his Global Disputes colleagues to help clients successfully resolve disputes wherever they arise, whether through litigation, arbitration or a combination of the two. His arrival follows the Firm's recent Australia additions in Melbourne with the arrival of litigation partners Matthew Critchley, Alicia Salvo and Brendon Clarke in the Firm's Global Disputes Practice.

"We are excited to have Clive join in Perth," said Adam Salter, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Perth Office. "His deep roots in Western Australia, combined with his extensive experience advising clients across Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, will strengthen our ability to serve clients not only locally but throughout Australia and around the world. Clive's arrival underscores our ongoing commitment to growing our capabilities in this vital market and reinforces the Firm's position as a leader in the region."

Mr. Luck has leading credentials in Australia in both domestic and international arbitration and has acted in matters governed by various arbitration rules including UNCITRAL, LCIA, ICC, ACICA, AFSA, HKIAC and SIAC. He holds a Master of Laws from Queensland University of Technology, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies from Murdoch University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Oxford, where he also completed the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School.

"I am thrilled to join Jones Day, a Firm distinguished by its true partnership culture and unwavering commitment to collaboration," said Mr. Luck. "Throughout my career, I have seen how the most successful outcomes for clients come from lawyers working together seamlessly across offices and practices. Jones Day's one-firm approach—where teamwork is not just encouraged but embedded in the Firm's DNA—is exactly the environment where I believe I can best serve clients. I look forward to collaborating with my new partners."
