On September 16, a cross-office Jones Day team obtained an order releasing JS from ICE detention, an Ecuadorian attorney and police officer seeking asylum in the United States. The client served as a senior official in the Ecuadorian National Police, and faces ongoing extreme persecution by criminal organizations in Ecuador due to her and her partner’s sensitive intelligence work. Jones Day briefed and argued for the client’s release, and succeeded.
