NXP whittles down competitor's infringement suit involving RFID technology from 26 to four patents

Jones Day is defending NXP USA, Inc. in a lawsuit brought by its competitor Impinj, Inc. alleging infringement of 26 patents relating to different aspects of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology. Jones Day successfully narrowed the lawsuit down to only four patents being asserted against NXP, including by obtaining decisions canceling claims of five of the patents in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Discovery in the suit is ongoing.
