Jones Day names eight winners of its 2025 International Legal Fellowship Award in China

In June 2025, Jones Day announced that eight outstanding law students from top Chinese universities won Jones Day International Legal Fellowship Award this year.

Launched in 2001, the annual Legal Fellowship was created to support students in the pursuit of their legal education and experience as part of the Firm’s commitment to advance to the rule of law. The winners were selected from a pool of hundreds of applications and are students at Fudan University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Renmin University of China and Tsinghua University. 

Angel Huang, Jones Day’s Partner-in-Charge of Mainland China Offices and M&A Chair for Asia, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the eight winners. "This year marks the 24th consecutive year of the Jones Day International Legal Scholarship Program. For over two decades, we have been rooted in Chinese society and have worked with universities in China to witness the growth and rise of batches of outstanding legal talents. We are honored that Jones Day can continue to participate in the construction of China's rule of law and the globalization development," she said. " Looking ahead, we hope to deepen our cooperations with more Chinese universities to jointly cultivate the legal force that drives the rule of law forward. We will further integrate the firm's global resources and build a broader platform to help Chinese law students enhance their practices and broader their visions.

"The Jones Day Fellowship has reinforced my dedication to the legal profession and motivated me to grow into an international lawyer with solid legal expertise, a firm grasp of international rules, and a global mindset. I will endeavor to contribute to the advancement of the rule of law in China, particularly in the field of foreign-related legal practice."

The Jones Day International Legal Fellowship Award program is open to all graduate students studying law at universities in China. It is also open to undergraduate students in their third year or above studying law at universities in China. Since the program’s inception, Jones Day has awarded a total of 271 Fellowships and more than RMB 5 million in scholarships to law students in China.
