Recognized by Law360 as one of top five class action lawyers in the country under the age of 40, Ryan Ball represents public and private companies in complex litigation and government investigations throughout the United States. His practice focuses on data privacy and cybersecurity, commercial and business disputes, trade secret misappropriation, and unfair competition.

Ryan has led the defense of numerous nationwide class actions asserting claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and various other statutory and common law doctrines. He has successfully defeated class certification on multiple occasions and briefed and argued dispositive motions in state and federal courts across the country.

Ryan led the defense in a high-stakes trade secrets dispute, successfully arguing the motion for summary judgment, which was recognized by the Daily Journal as a "Top Defense Verdict" in California for 2021. Ryan also recently prevailed in a series of class actions seeking to expand the scope of the FCRA, arguing the motions at the trial court and helping to obtain a precedent-setting victory before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to his litigation experience, Ryan represents clients in responding to government investigations and enforcement actions, including from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and state regulators and prosecutors. He also regularly advises clients on emerging technologies, data collection and analytics, fintech, and related legal and regulatory risks, including under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
