For nearly 15 years, Edward Chang has represented institutional clients in a array of complex litigation matters, with an emphasis on cybersecurity, privacy, and consumer issues. He has served as lead counsel in hundreds of class and individual actions, complicated business disputes, and regulatory matters, including in bet-the-company and high-stakes litigation. Ed also advises clients on sensitive business and cybersecurity issues.

Ed currently represents Experian in dozens of nationwide data-breach class actions in both state and federal courts. Other significant engagements include representation of Lennar in a series of nationwide "yellow-brass" product defect class actions covering millions of homes, defeating class certification in all cases; Applied Medical in numerous class actions/arbitrations — including in the first California state case to apply recent U.S. Supreme Court precedent in a non-consumer matter to preclude class claims; Yard House in a complicated business dispute, obtaining a favorable appellate opinion on a novel jurisdictional issue that had remained unanswered by the California Supreme Court for over 80 years; Intelius in numerous class cases alleging deceptive marketing practices subject to significant criminal regulation, successfully obtaining dismissal of all claims; Applied in more than a dozen international cross-border business fraud/contract disputes, including a recent action wherein Applied obtained an eight-figure U.S. damages award; and Verizon in a consumer class action, obtaining a published appellate opinion limiting the scope of UCL standing.

Ed also represents Bank of America, Consumerinfo.com, Del Taco, Glidewell, Hyundai, IBM, Texas Instruments, and Wells Fargo.

Ed is a member of Jones Day's Firmwide Recruiting Committee and serves as the Hiring Partner for the Irvine Office.
