Jones Day welcomes Ted Powers as Private Equity partner in Corporate Practice

Ted Powers has joined the Firm as a partner in the Corporate Practice. He will be based in the New York Office.

Mr. Powers has more than 20 years of experience practicing corporate law, including private and public mergers and acquisitions, asset and stock transactions, minority investments and general corporate and securities matters. He has played a lead role in negotiating, managing, and implementing a number of high-stakes private equity, M&A, and corporate transactions for clients in a wide range of industries.

"Ted works closely with directors, senior managers, and executive leadership as a valued business partner to successfully implement important transactions," said Andy Levine, Co-Head of the Firm's Corporate Practice. "His complementary experience in private equity and public M&A align in a deal market where the two areas increasingly overlap and sponsors increasingly transact."

At Jones Day, Mr. Powers joins the newly structured Corporate Practice, encompassing M&A and Private Equity. His work will primarily focus on advising private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies. Jones Day consistently ranks among the top law firms in M&A and private equity representations in published league tables and over the last 20 years has acted on more deals than any other law firm in the world.

Mr. Powers began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Stan Bernstein, a judge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Eastern District of New York, before beginning his career in private practice at some of the largest law firms in New York.

Mr. Powers earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a Certificate of Study in Business and Public Policy from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, and his undergraduate degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University.
