Finance partner Benjamin Downie joins Jones Day in Sydney

Benjamin Downie has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Financial Markets Practice. He is based in the Firm's Sydney Office.

Mr. Downie has 24 years of experience advising clients in the raising of domestic and international credit and private capital across the securitization, structured finance and debt capital markets. His clients include sponsors and originators, private equity funds, domestic and international banks, and investment banks. Mr. Downie has worked on the full spectrum of transaction types and asset classes including the use of structured credit as the primary source of debt funding for M&A transactions, commercial real estate warehousing, CMBS and the establishment of dealer floor plan and retail off-take transactions in the automotive market.

"Ben has acted on a range of innovative and first-of-type transactions throughout the Asia Pacific region, and he recently advised a private equity fund on the structured finance aspects of the largest public-to-private acquisition of 2024 in Australia," said Alban Caillemer du Ferrage, Chair of the EMEA and APAC regions of Jones Day's Financial Markets Practice. "He has worked with major clients in the automotive, telecommunications, real estate and energy industries, which is an excellent complement to some of the key sectors served by our global practice group.
