Sushma Jobanputra, the Partner-in-Charge of the Singapore Office, has been advising clients for more than three decades on banking, restructuring, and corporate matters. She has practiced in London, Toronto, Paris, and Singapore, and her practice includes structured, acquisition, and trade finance as well as cross-border debt restructuring across Asia including Singapore, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Sushma's financial institution clients include Standard Chartered Bank, DBS Bank, JBIC, Asian Development Bank, BNP Paribas, and Société Générale. She also has represented a significant number of corporate clients, including IBM, Procter & Gamble, Hyatt Corporation, Godrej Group, Micron Technologies, Temasek, Crescent Point, L Catterton, Tikehau, Boeing Corporation, Chevron Corporation, Trafigura, and the Tata Group.

Before joining Jones Day, Sushma was a managing director at Barclays Capital, heading a team in the structured transactions department, with responsibility on behalf of the bank for the execution of all large complex structured transactions with other financial institutions and multinationals. Prior to that she was a partner at a Magic Circle firm in London where her practice focused on structured and acquisition finance.

Sushma serves on the following committees: National University of Singapore's Law Advisory Council, which supports and advances the Law Faculty in its education, research, and service mission; Expert Panel for the Singapore Management University Centre for Commercial Law in Asia; Organising Committee for the Singapore Academy of Law Annual Lecture; Legal Services Committee of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce; Documentation Committee for the Asian Pacific Loan Market Association Singapore; and Advisory Committee to the Board of WIMAR (Women in Mining and Resources, Singapore).

  • Junshi grants exclusive rights to Dr. Reddy's for toripalimab cancer treatmentJones Day represented Shanghai Junshi Biosciences Co., Ltd.
