Leading securities litigator Paul Rugani joins Jones Day as partner in Irvine
Paul Rugani has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement Practice. He is based in the Firm's Irvine Office.
Mr. Rugani brings more than 17 years of experience representing financial institutions, technology companies, accounting firms, and public companies in their most significant litigation and regulatory matters. He has established a multi-faceted practice spanning securities class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits, commercial contractual disputes, consumer class action litigation, and other complex matters at the trial and appellate levels. He also advises clients with navigating internal, government, and regulatory investigations, as well as counseling domestic and international accounting firms on state CPA licensing and board regulation matters.

At Jones Day, Mr. Rugani joins an international team of experienced securities lawyers who defend companies and individuals facing shareholder actions arising from mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, derivative cases and securities fraud class actions. He will work alongside his colleagues to advise clients on corporate governance matters, business and fiduciary litigation, internal and governmental investigations, and ethics and corporate compliance issues. Mr. Rugani earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Duke University. He has been recognized as one of Lawdragon's "500 Leading Litigators in America" (2026), is a recommended lawyer for "Securities Litigation" by Legal 500 and has received The American Lawyer's "Litigator of the Week" honor (2022).
