GAMA files amicus brief with U.S. Supreme Court in case surrounding whether state standards of care are preempted by Federal Aviation Act

Client(s) General Aviation Manufacturers Association

On October 14, 2016, Jones Day filed an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association in support of a petition for a writ of certiorari to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The case raises the landmark issue of whether the Federal Aviation Act, and the extensive, comprehensive regulations promulgated under the Act by the Federal Aviation Administration, preempt the field of aviation safety, including product liability claims based on state standards of care.
