DIRECTV merger with AT&T receives antitrust clearance

Jones Day represented California based satellite TV provider DIRECTV on the antitrust aspects of its $67 billion acquisition by AT&T, a deal that combines AT&T's terrestrial internet and video business with DIRECTV's satellite video business. After investigations lasting more than a year, the transaction was cleared by the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission, with limited conditions, after earlier being cleared by authorities in Latin America.
