Chevron prevails against natural gas price-fixing claims

Client(s) Chevron Corporation

Jones Day successfully defended Chevron Corporation in the District Court for the District of Columbia against antitrust claims brought by 18 municipalities alleging nationwide price-fixing of natural gas. The municipalities, located primarily in Kansas, but also in Missouri, Indiana and Illinois, claimed that defendants conspired to fix prices through their participation in the National Petroleum Council, an advisory committee to the Energy Department. After we successfully defeated a motion for preliminary injunction, the Court ultimately dismissed the claims against Chevron for lack of personal jurisdiction.
