Jones Day partners Dickson Chin and David Grubman named American Lawyer “Northeast Trailblazers”

Jones Day partners Dickson Chin and David (Dave) Grubman were named to The American Lawyer's "Northeast Trailblazers" list for 2022. The publication recognizes attorneys who have made "significant marks on practice, policy, and technological advancements in their areas of legal practice."

Mr. Chin is a Financial Markets partner in the New York Office who has assisted numerous clients with finding straightforward and innovative solutions to challenging problems. He has more than 20 years of experience representing investors, financial institutions, utilities, developers, energy marketers, commercial users, and other market participants in a wide range of energy transactions. His experience with renewable energy and carbon transactions includes wind (onshore and offshore), solar, battery storage, biomass, waste to energy, voluntary and compliance carbon credits, carbon capture and sequestration, fuel cells, demand response, and microgrids. He was engaged by the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) to prepare the U.S. Renewable Energy Certificate Annex and is actively involved in the ISDA working group that is preparing a template for Voluntary Carbon Credits. He co-coordinates the global derivatives lawyers of the Firm. Additionally, he represents clients on blockchain and other distributed ledger technology and smart contracts, has written a chapter on smart contracts for an American Bar Association book on blockchain, contributes to the ISDA Legal Guidelines for Smart Derivatives Contracts, and has addressed the Congressional Blockchain Caucus.

Mr. Grubman is an M&A partner in the Pittsburgh Office who focuses his practice on complex public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, distressed M&A, and corporate governance matters. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, foreign multinationals, and private equity funds spanning numerous industries in these complex corporate transactions for almost 25 years. Clients work with him due to his practical, hands-on approach to dealmaking, which is reflected by a large, diverse client base. He is a past member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the Jewish Federation of North America and the Leadership Pittsburgh Class of 2011. Actively involved in his community, Mr. Grubman serves as the Board Chair of the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh and a Board Officer of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
