Head of the Firm's global Energy Practice, Jeff Schlegel has more than 30 years of experience in leading international and domestic M&A and project development transactions for energy industry participants, particularly in oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), chemicals/petrochemicals, power, renewables, and energy-related infrastructure.
Jeff's M&A experience includes public and private M&A and joint venture transactions in the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas industry, chemicals/petrochemicals, LNG, power (including renewables), and other capital intensive industries. His project development experience in these sectors includes structuring, engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and primary commercial arrangements. Jeff also has represented domestic and multinational companies in a variety of public and private transactions, including inbound and outbound investment, and cross-border transactions in a wide range of industries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and North America.
Jeff's recent engagements include more than $450 billion of: energy projects, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and financings; LNG import and export projects and transactions in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia; refining, logistics, and other downstream transactions in the United States and the Asia/Pacific region; the development of multiple world-scale facilities; and oil field services transactions in the United States, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
Jeff is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, a past chair of the International Section of the Institute for Energy Law, a regular speaker at energy conferences, and a past editor of the Texas Transnational Law Quarterly, published by the State Bar of Texas.
