Jones Day Expands Global Financial Markets Practice with three lawyers in London and Dallas
The global law firm Jones Day announced today that Harjeet Lall and Charlotte Lewis-Williams have joined the Firm as partners in London, and Hope Schall has joined as of counsel in Dallas. All three lawyers are part of the Firm's Financial Markets Practice, which has now added eight new partners this year, and 17 new partners in the last 18 months. The arrival of Ms. Lall and Mrs. Lewis-Williams means that in those 18 months, 14 lateral partners have joined the Firm in London.
"The movement of capital today does not stop at national borders, and neither can the advice clients need to execute complicated financial transactions," said Jay Tambe, Leader of Jones Day's Financial Markets Practice. "The arrival of Harjeet, Charlotte, and Hope adds even more depth to the global capabilities we’ve built to help clients seamlessly navigate that reality. Each brings a practice shaped at the intersection of traditional banking and alternative capital — from origination and structuring to securitization and regulation. As private credit and non-bank lending continue to reshape how capital flows worldwide, we will continue to add the multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional strength clients need wherever capital is being raised, deployed, structured, or regulated."
Ms. Lall joins as partner in London, bringing significant experience in securitization and structured finance, with a particular focus on advising banks and private credit funds on warehouse financings, mortgage loan transactions, and cross-border receivables programs, back-leverage structures, and repack programs. Her cross-border practice spans a range of asset classes. Her recent engagements include advising on a securitization warehouse financing of non-performing mortgage loans with an outstanding balance of €4 billion, a €392 million public securitization of reperforming Spanish mortgage loans and a $500 million repo mortgage loans transaction structured as a securitization. Ms. Lall ranked in Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner for securitization in London 2026 and is a frequent panel speaker at the annual Global ABS conference. She holds an LLB and LLM in Law from the London School of Economics and an MA in Ancient History from the University of Bristol.
Mrs. Lewis-Williams joins as partner in London, bringing almost 20 years of experience advising on complex, multi-jurisdictional finance matters including direct lending, private credit, leveraged finance, fund finance, infrastructure and sports finance, with clients including multinational banks, credit funds, and other non-bank lenders, sponsors and corporates. Her recent achievements include advising the sponsor on a data center financing in Europe, an alternative lender on NAV facilities for a US/UK live entertainment company; a consortium of institutional investors and the placement agent on the issuance of €424 million notes to support the reconstruction of FC Barcelona’s legendary Camp Nou stadium; and institutional investors and bank lenders on the €332 million financing package to redevelop Valencia’s stadium. She previously spent three years as Corporate Counsel at an affiliate of a global asset management firm, giving her direct client-side perspective on private capital transactions, and also completed secondments at leading investment banks (Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse). Mrs. Lewis-Williams is recommended in Legal 500 UK 2025 for Acquisition Finance, and recognized for her Fund Finance and Sports Finance practices. She holds an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Cambridge and an LLB from The University of Law.
"Harjeet and Charlotte are two more outstanding additions to our London office. They are perfectly placed to advise clients whose financing needs increasingly cut across asset classes, financing products, and jurisdictions," said John Phillips, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's London Office. "Harjeet's securitization and structured finance experience and Charlotte's background in direct lending, private credit, and leveraged finance, give clients in London access to two highly complementary practices at a time when capital providers, sponsors, and borrowers are looking for integrated advice across the financing lifecycle. With Charlotte and Piero Carbone, we now have significant capability in the sports sector."
Ms. Schall joins as of counsel in Dallas, bringing nearly three decades of high-level experience as a financial services regulatory attorney. She served as in-house regulatory counsel at a diversified financial company, a leading global investment bank, a large national bank holding company with over $200 billion in assets, and a large regional financial institution (Comerica Bank), where she most recently served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Prior to those roles she served nearly 11 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where she provided counsel on payment matters and the supervision and regulation of banks and holding companies. Ms. Schall’s experience spans prudential and consumer regulatory matters, payments and product development, mergers/acquisitions and investments, regulatory remediation and enforcement, and governance and risk management frameworks. She holds a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and an LL.M. in Financial Services from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
"Hope brings to Dallas and to our Texas platform the perspective of a lawyer who has advised from inside major financial institutions and from within the regulatory system itself," said Matt Kairis, Partner-in-Charge of Dallas and Texas for Jones Day. "Her experience across bank supervision and payments, both as a bank regulator and in-house at banks will be a tremendous resource for clients operating in a market where financial services strategy and regulatory expectations are increasingly intertwined."
