As an experienced patent trial lawyer, Christian Platt handles complicated intellectual property disputes in the courts and the patent office, including patent infringement, patent validity, trade secret, and licensing disputes. He has tried multiple bench and jury trials. In 2015, he first-chaired a three-week patent trial resulting in a jury verdict of noninfringement, which The Daily Journal selected as a Top Defense Result of 2015.

Christian has represented some of the world's largest companies in their most complex patent disputes involving, in many instances, more than a billion dollars in potential damages. He handles a variety of technologies, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, video games, computer hardware, software, networking technologies, and medical devices.

Christian has been recognized by numerous legal publications including The Legal 500 US where clients describe him as "very professional" who does "a great job presenting [a] case." He has written and spoken extensively on litigation strategy and patent damages. He was selected by the editorial board of Inside the Minds as a leader in intellectual property life sciences law and authored a chapter in Life Sciences Client Strategies (Aspatore, 2007).

Christian is vice chair of the ABA IPL Section Patent Litigation Committee and previously chaired the Subcommittees on Patent Damages and Patent Exhaustion. He also previously chaired the AIPLA Subcommittee on Patent Damages. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and is a member of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association and the Federal Bar Association.
