Laurent Vercauteren advises banks, financial institutions, direct lenders, institutional lenders, private equity funds, and corporate borrowers on leveraged cross-border acquisition finance, syndicated loans, secured financing, project finance, PPPs (public-private partnerships), and refinancing transactions. In addition, he focuses on debt capital market transactions, including on behalf of public and corporate issuers.

Laurent has represented local and international lenders in some of Belgium's recent high-profile acquisition finance and project finance/PPP transactions. Laurent also has considerable experience in distressed debt situations, restructurings, and general banking and finance.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2016, Laurent worked for a U.S. law firm in Brussels and London and was seconded to a multinational electric utility company where he was a member of the legal finance team that was involved in drafting and negotiating project finance documents.
