Joe Farley represents clients in technical and high-stakes litigation, focusing primarily on patent infringement litigation in federal courts. His cases involve a variety of technologies and industries, including mechanical and medical devices, semiconductors, jet engines, automated driving, CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats), material coatings, and USB (Universal Serial Bus).

Joe has experience in all phases of patent litigation. He has played significant roles in multiple federal trials and appeals, managing discovery, taking and defending expert and fact depositions, and authoring many briefs, including numerous appellate briefs and case-dispositive motions. Joe has also prosecuted hundreds of patent applications and made numerous successful arguments before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Prior to joining Jones Day, Joe clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
