Miguel Alvarez's practice focuses on patent and consumer litigation.
Miguel has extensive experience in the biotechnology and life sciences industry. Miguel's patent litigation practice has involved technologies such as gene therapy and pharmaceutical cancer drugs. He has negotiated agreements involving the transfer of sensitive research materials on behalf of a nonprofit medical research institute. Miguel has also brokered and facilitated favorable settlements in several consumer litigation matters.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Miguel spent eight years as a researcher at a San Diego-based biotechnology company where he led the research and development of novel antibody reagents and other cell-based assay reagents.
