John Vogt is one of the top cybersecurity lawyers in America. In 2017, John received the cybersecurity Trailblazers award from The National Law Journal for his data breach class action work. That same year, the Los Angeles Daily Journal recognized John as one of the top cybersecurity lawyers in California.

In his 20 years of practice, John has defended well over 100 state, federal, and nationwide class actions. His class action experience covers every aspect of cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection. He has led the defense of dozens of data breach class actions involving the theft of consumer data, health care records, and financial information. He has represented clients facing class action risk under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), state and federal wiretap laws (ECPA), the Drivers Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA). He has led the defense of class claims arising out of negative option advertising and automatic renewal of online subscriptions, product labeling, claims under Section 17200 of California's Business & Professions Code (UCL), and claims under California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA).

Rounding out his substantial class action practice, John defends corporations being investigated by state attorney general and federal regulators arising out of data breaches, and he regularly advises clients on their cybersecurity and consumer privacy obligations, including data breach response.

John has briefed and argued dozens of appeals before U.S. federal courts and has led trial teams in domestic and international arbitration.
