Jones Day adds funds partner Ariele Cohen in New York

Ariele L. Cohen has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Corporate Practice. She is based in the Firm's New York Office.

Ms. Cohen advises private investment funds and investment advisers in connection with their structuring, formation, and ongoing operational needs. She has extensive experience across all aspects of fund formation, including the preparation of private offering memoranda and limited partnership agreements, as well as the negotiation of side letters. Ms. Cohen also counsels institutional investors on their investments in private funds—including hedge funds, private equity funds, and real estate funds—and co-investment transactions.

"Ariele is a talented lawyer whose deep experience in fund formation and institutional investor advisory work makes her a great addition," said Andy Levine, co-leader of Jones Day's Corporate Practice. "Her ability to guide clients through complex fund structuring, private offering transactions, and cross-border investment vehicles strengthens our fund practice and enhances the breadth of services we deliver to private equity sponsors, hedge fund managers, and institutional investors around the world."

At Jones Day, Ms. Cohen joins the Firm's global Corporate Practice, which encompasses M&A and Private Equity. In the last five years, Jones Day has advised clients on more than 3,000 M&A transactions collectively valued at $1.5 trillion, and many of the world's leading private equity funds are counseled by Jones Day in the full range of corporate transactions.

"Ariele's arrival underscores the continued growth of our New York Office and our commitment to meeting the increasingly sophisticated needs of clients in the largest financial market in the world," said Lee DeJulius, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's New York Office. "Her experience advising both fund sponsors and institutional investors positions her to serve as a trusted resource for clients not only here in New York, but throughout the United States and all across the globe."

Ms. Cohen earned her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law, where she served on the staff of the International Law Review, and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Brandeis University. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. She also served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Chancery Court in Newark, New Jersey.

"What drew me to Jones Day is the way lawyers here genuinely work together across practices and offices to solve problems for clients," said Ms. Cohen. "I'm looking forward to collaborating with colleagues to bring an integrated approach to the fund sponsors and institutional investors we serve. That kind of teamwork is what I was looking for, and I'm excited to be here."
