Mon Shore settles litigation with Miller's Ale House over restaurant development at SouthSide Works

Client(s) Mon Shore MAH Associates, LP

Jones Day successfully represented Mon Shore MAH Associates, LP, an affiliate of the Soffer Organization, Inc., as landlord in connection with a contract for the construction of a restaurant by Miller's Ale House, Inc. at the SouthSide Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Miller's Ale House terminated the ten-year lease prior to construction and Mon Shore sought damages for breach of contract and improper termination of the lease. Mon Shore filed a complaint in state court that Miller's removed to federal court, but Jones Day was successful in getting the case remanded to state court. After assignment of the case to the Commerce and Complex Litigation Center and after two mediation sessions, the parties were able to reach a mutually agreeable settlement.
