Agence Francaise de Developpement provides financing to Comisión Federal de Electricidad

Client(s) Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD)

Jones Day represented Agence Francaise de Developpement, a French government agency, in connection with the €250 million (US$322.6 million) credit facility to the Comisión Federal de Electricidad, the de-centralized entity of the Mexican Federal Government in charge of providing electricity in Mexico. The proceeds of the facility will be used to upgrade the Manzanillo thermoelectric power plant; modernize the El Sauz thermal power plant; and to fund the Salamanca and Agua Prieta combined cycle projects. The upgrade of the Manzanillo plant will transform it into the largest power plant in Mexico in 2013 while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving the equivalent of nearly 2 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).
