Standard Bank obtains €137 million summary judgment against Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber

Jones Day successfully represented Standard Bank Plc in proceedings against Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber. In November 2011 the Commercial Court of the High Court awarded Standard Bank judgment in a sum in excess of €137 million. The Bank originally issued proceedings against the Sheikh in June 2010 and had faced a number of defenses and counter claims in connection with guarantees which had been provided by the Sheikh in support of three separate loan facilities made available to entities within his corporate group, MBI International.
