Absent husband complicates divorce proceedings

Client(s) Marzena Zoladz

Jones Day lawyers advised a pro bono client with no means of obtaining paid legal advice whose husband had agreed to a divorce, and then claimed not to be the respondent, and then left the country and became unreachable. The law relating to obtaining judgment in circumstances where the other party is unreachable is complex and after some detailed work, the client was eventually granted her divorce.
