Client(s) Diebold, Incorporated

On behalf of Diebold, Incorporated, Jones Day negotiated a favorable resolution of a civil whistle-blower lawsuit brought under the California False Claims Act by the California Attorney General in connection with the client's manufacture and sale of electronic voting machines. Jones Day defeated plaintiffs' request for a temporary restraining order blocking use of client's voting systems in advance of the March 2004 presidential primary election. Following settlement, Jones Day advised the client on the creation and implementation of a corporate compliance and ethics plan.
