Cross-Border M&A Lawyer Salvador Gallo Korkowski Returns to Jones Day in Mexico City

Salvador Gallo Korkowski has rejoined Jones Day as Of Counsel in the Firm's Corporate practice and is based in Mexico City. A dual-qualified lawyer admitted in New York and Mexico, Mr. Gallo Korkowski is experienced advising boards, executives, private equity funds, and corporations on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture-backed transactions, and financings across Latin America and the United States.

Mr. Gallo Korkowski brings more than 15 years of cross-border legal experience. Most recently, as General Counsel of Merama Inc., he directed approximately 30 transactions and led the legal aspects of multi-jurisdictional equity and debt financings. He also advised the board and C-suite on transaction feasibility, deal risk allocation, governance, and regulatory exposure, and served as a board member and corporate secretary. During his prior tenure at Jones Day, he represented private equity funds, government entities, and corporations on infrastructure, M&A, project finance, and cross-border transactions in industries including education, energy, and heavy industry, and led Mexican law aspects of cross-border deals in coordination with the Firm's U.S. and European teams.

"Salvador is a great addition to our Corporate Practice," said Randi Lesnick, co-leader of Jones Day's Corporate Practice. "He combines years of experience executing cross-border transactions at Jones Day with the perspective of a General Counsel who has directed an active acquisition program and sat in the boardroom when go/no-go decisions are made."

Mr. Gallo Korkowski will join a Jones Day global Corporate team of nearly 400 M&A attorneys in 16 countries, which, over the past five years, has advised on more than 5,200 transactions with a deal volume exceeding $2.1 trillion.

"We are delighted to welcome Salvador back to Mexico City," said Rodrigo Gómez Ballina, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Mexico City Office. "Mexico remains a vital gateway for investment flowing between the United States, Europe, and Latin America, and Salvador's dual qualification in New York and Mexico, together with his deep relationships across the regional business community, positions him to help clients navigate that corridor seamlessly. His return reinforces our commitment to serving clients throughout Latin America while connecting them to the full strength of Jones Day's offices around the world."

Mr. Gallo Korkowski received an LL.M. from Cornell Law School and a Licenciado en Derecho, with a postgraduate degree in Constitutional Law (with honors), from Universidad Panamericana in Guadalajara. He is admitted in New York and holds a federal license to practice in Mexico. He previously served as an adjunct professor of Economic Analysis of Law at Universidad Panamericana.

"Returning to Jones Day feels like coming home," said Mr. Gallo Korkowski. "I have seen firsthand how the Firm operates as a true partnership, where lawyers across offices and practices work as one team. Having worked hand-in-hand with Jones Day colleagues in the United States and Europe on cross-border deals, and later as a General Counsel relying on outside counsel, I know the value of seamless collaboration. I look forward to bringing a client-side perspective to our team and working alongside colleagues across the Firm's global platform to deliver integrated, business-focused solutions for clients in Mexico, Latin America, and around the world."
