Jones Day's Tina Tabacchi named to Crain's Chicago Business' "Notable Women in Law" for 2022

Crain's Chicago Business has named Tina Tabacchi, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Chicago Office, to the publication's "Notable Women in Law" for 2022. A lawyer awarded this distinction must serve in a senior-level role at her firm, have demonstrated significant impact on cases managed, served as role model or mentor to other women lawyers, promoted inclusive practices in the workplace, and assumed a leadership role in professional organizations and community service initiatives.

Ms. Tabacchi is a commercial litigator with 30 years’ experience in commercial litigation, including extensive experience in the health care, pharmaceutical, and life sciences industries and on False Claims Act litigation. She has experience in a broad range of federal, state, and administrative proceedings, including multidistrict and class action litigation and matters involving various tort, public nuisance, consumer fraud claims, and RICO. She also has handled Hatch-Waxman intellectual property and pharmaceutical products liability cases, government contract litigation, government and internal investigations, and contract and licensing disputes.

“It is great to see Tina recognized widely for her strengths that we’ve seen for many years: Serving clients at the highest level, leading a large office of terrific lawyers, recruiting and developing diverse talent, and giving her time, energy, and skills to the community,” said Kevyn Orr, Partner-in-Charge of U.S. Offices for Jones Day. “She exemplifies the very best of Jones Day through her brilliance, competency, collaboration, and courage.”

Her recent matters include defending a national retailer against public nuisance and related industry claims; defending a university in a putative nationwide class action alleging that it and more than a dozen other universities entered into a conspiracy in violation of federal antitrust laws; and representing a Fortune 40 company in defense of federal and state False Claims Act claims asserted by a former contractor in connection with a public works technology contract funded by the Department of Homeland Security.

“Tina is not only one of the leading health care litigators in the country, but she’s a fantastic leader, mentor, and person,” said Michael Gray, a partner in Jones Day’s Labor & Employment Practice, who also serves as Co-Client Affairs Partner for the Firm. “Clients rely on her excellent judgment and wise counsel, lawyers throughout the Firm have flourished from her guidance, and her civic contributions to the City of Chicago make it a better place to live and work.”

Ms. Tabacchi has advocated for women lawyers through her leading roles with Jones Day’s diversity initiatives, including the Firm’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Advancement Committee. Her leadership with respect to diversity is a significant part of Jones Day’s continuing success in recruiting, retaining, and promoting women and diverse lawyers in Chicago and throughout the Firm. She heads Jones Day’s Chicago litigation team and serves on Jones Day’s Firmwide Partnership Committee.

Ms. Tabacchi’s commitments to the Chicago community include service on the board of the Civic Consulting Alliance, a public-private collaboration working to invest in the Chicago region to drive impact in areas such as education, justice, safety, and economic vitality.  She is also a member of The Chicago Network, an organization of Chicago's most influential women leaders, and the Chicago Inn of Court. Ms. Tabacchi is recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the area of Litigation—Health Care, Illinois Super Lawyers, and Chambers USA in the area of Litigation. She was named one of "2017 Top Women Lawyers in Leadership" by the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and one of "The Most Powerful and Influential Women in Illinois" by the National Diversity Council (2012).
