Laurent Vercauteren is an associate in the Banking, Finance & Securities Practice of Jones Day. He advises banks, financial institutions, and corporate borrowers on leveraged cross-border acquisition finance, syndicated loans, secured financing, project finance, and refinancing transactions. He also has experience in capital markets and banking and financial regulation.
Laurent has represented clients such as Belfius, BNP Paribas, BTMU, European Investment Bank, ING, KBC, Rabobank, SMBC, Société Générale, and other local and international lenders in some of Belgium's recent high-profile acquisition finance and project finance transactions. His experience includes advising a large consortium of lenders with respect to the provision of €900 million for the financing of Belgium's largest offshore wind farm (Norther) and advising other large consortiums with respect to the financing and refinancing of other Belgian offshore wind farms, including Belwind and Northwind.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2016, Laurent worked for a U.S. law firm in Brussels and London and was seconded to a multinational electric utility company where he was a member of the legal finance team that was involved in drafting and negotiating project finance documents.
