Alexandre de Verdun has 25 years' experience in M&A and private equity, advising clients on mid-cap and large-cap M&A transactions across a range of industries involving cross-border and multijurisdictional deals.
His practice is focused on industrial M&A, including disposals, acquisitions, equity investment, strategic alliances, and joint ventures in France and abroad. He advises leading strategic French and foreign players, particularly in the energy arena (with a strong track record in the nuclear sector), the banking and financial industry, and the aerospace and defense sector, which he knows very well.
Among the recent high-profile transactions on which he acted as lead counsel are the 1.1 Bn€ disposal by Société Générale of its worldwide equipment finance activities to BPCE Group, the 1.3 Bn€ joint venture between Orano and XTC (batteries manufacturing), the 1.8 Bn€ (aggregate value) disposal of Société Générale's activities in Central/Eastern Europe, and the 1.3 Bn€ joint venture between EDF, Total Marketing Services, and Fluxys for the construction and operation of the Dunkerque LNG terminal.
He also advised Framatome in its successive acquisitions of Valinox, Rolls Royce (I&C), Velan SAS, and Segault SAS. He acted as lead counsel for the acquisition by DataBank (data centers), the sale by Areva of the Canberra group, the acquisition by Bridgestone of Speedy, the acquisition by Calgon Carbon of Filters and Active Carbons assets from the Arkema group, the acquisition by TotalEnergies of a 70% stake in V Energy, the joint venture between Mitsubishi and Eramet in the Weda Bay nickel mining project, the sale by Société Générale of Family Credit (India) to L&T Finance Holding, and the acquisition of Mors Smitt by Wabtec from Eurazeo.
