Nia Ballard joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2022. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Nia was an appellate attorney with the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Litigation Group of the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel. In that role, Nia was lead counsel of record for approximately 300 appeals brought before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Nia was elected secretary of the Washington Bar Association Young Lawyers Division for the 2020-2021 bar year. That year she was also awarded the Ronald C. Jessamy Professionalism Award. She is currently serving her elected term as treasurer for the 2021-2022 bar year.
Nia is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
