Camden businessman prevails in New Jersey appeal, affirming dismissal of wide-ranging criminal conspiracy indictment

Jones Day prevailed in an appeal brought by the New Jersey attorney general, securing the dismissal of an indictment charging George E. Norcross III with thirteen counts of conspiracy, financial facilitation, corporate misconduct, and official misconduct.

The trial court dismissed each count of the indictment on its face, stating that the allegations in the indictment did not constitute a violation of the applicable criminal laws and that all the charges were time-barred. The appellate division unanimously affirmed the lower court finding that each count either failed to allege a crime or was outside the statute of limitations.
