Aramco Services Company acquires two Leonardo C-27J ‘Spartan’ multi-mission aircraft
Client(s) Aramco Services Company
Jones Day advised Aramco Services Company in connection with the company’s acquisition of two C-27J ‘Spartan’ aircraft from Italian industrial group Leonardo. The acquisition, announced during this year’s Paris Air Show, marks the first civilian order for these aircraft which traditionally have been used for defense purposes. The aircraft will be configured for ‘multi-mission’ roles, including firefighting, cargo transport, oil spill response and medical evacuation missions and will be fitted with a modular aerial firefighting system, allowing precision drops of water or fire retardant. The aircraft will be operated by Mukamalah Aviation Company (also known as Aloula Aviation), the first aviation company in Saudi Arabia.
