Teledyne secures license from NOAA permitting placement of Earth sensing instruments on ISS

Jones Day assisted Teledyne Technologies Incorporated in securing a license from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ("NOAA"), which was authorized by Congress to license and regulate space-based Earth sensing systems. Teledyne, through its subsidiary Teledyne Brown Engineering, has an agreement with NASA permitting it to place a series of Earth sensing cameras and sensing instruments on the International Space Station ("ISS") in order to take highly accurate images of the Earth’s surface.

We are working with our client on numerous reporting and audit requirements stipulated in the conditions of the license. We are also currently assisting Teledyne on negotiating agreements for international partnerships with non-U.S. space agencies and private companies on the development of specialized sensors that would operate on the ISS pursuant to Teledyne’s arrangement with NASA.
