Fortune 200 company seeks representation in investigation involving U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program

Client(s) Fortune 200 company

Jones Day represented a Fortune 200 company in an investigation that arose after U.S. Customs and Border Protection ("CBP") discovered a large amount of narcotics that, unbeknownst to the company, had been secretly hidden inside a container used to transport the company's products across the U.S.-Mexico border. Jones Day quickly assembled a team to conduct an internal investigation into the matter, and reported to CBP its findings about the third-party shipper that the company used, and how the company intended to prevent such breaches from occurring in the future. As a result of Jones Day's representation and compliance work, the company was able to preserve its certification under CBP's Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program. Under that program, companies that agree to establish clear supply chain security criteria obtain important benefits such as expedited processing.
