Jones Day represented J.I.O., a survivor of domestic violence, who was granted a five-year restraining order and full physical and legal custody of her child on April 7. J.I.O. had faced a long history of severe physical and emotional abuse from her former partner. A DVRO trial was held before Commissioner Laura Cohen of the Los Angeles Superior Court, after which she was granted protection for the maximum possible term (five years) and full physical and legal custody of her child.
