Jones Day's Sid Pepels named to Global Restructuring Review's "40 Under 40" for 2026
Sid Pepels, a partner in Jones Day's Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice, has been recognized among Global Restructuring Review's 40 Under 40 for 2026. This list spotlights rising stars in cross-border restructuring and insolvency from around the world, all aged under 40 as of 1 July.
Mr. Pepels litigates and advises on commercial and international insolvency matters, with a focus on complex (cross-border) restructurings and insolvencies. Among his recent achievements, Mr. Pepels served as co-head of the Dutch Jones Day team that represented a multinational financial and retail technology company in the first-ever cross border restructuring involving dual main proceedings under chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and a Dutch Scheme under WHOA, and the first-ever chapter 15 recognition of Dutch Scheme proceedings and a sanctioned WHOA reorganization plan.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Pepels is an active contributor to the academic restructuring community. He holds a Ph.D. in European insolvency law and regularly publishes on topics of international insolvency law, is a board member of the Netherlands Association for Comparative and International Insolvency Law, and a NextGen Member of the International Insolvency Institute.
