Leading leveraged finance lawyer Jon Frankel joins Jones Day's Financial Markets Practice in New York
Jonathan J. Frankel has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Financial Markets Practice. He is based in the Firm's New York Office, where he will help lead the Global Leveraged Finance and Private Credit practice.
Mr. Frankel has worked on many of the largest and most complex multinational leveraged finance transactions. His practice involves representing arrangers of syndicated loans, debt and equity securities offerings, and capital solutions and liability management exercises, as well as lenders providing private credit and asset-based loans. He also advises companies seeking financing, general corporate and securities law advice, or mergers and acquisitions representation.
Mr. Frankel has represented the lead arrangers in connection with the financings for the acquisitions of ADT, Avaya, Capsugel, Cornerstone Building Brands, Endemol/Shine, Kestra Financial, Michaels Stores, Nielsen, Planview, Rackspace, and The Weather Channel. His transactions span a wide variety of industries and contexts, including public financings, leveraged buyouts, going-private transactions, spin-offs, and restructurings. Mr. Frankel's clients include the leading investment banks, commercial and regional banks, private credit lenders, asset-based lenders, and corporations.

Mr. Frankel joins a team of nearly 320 lawyers worldwide in the Financial Markets Practice who advise clients on the full range of complex cross-border financial transactions, regulatory matters, investigations, and litigation. The group represents a diverse client base of global financial institutions, issuers, borrowers, funds, asset managers, and fintech companies. Jones Day's Financial Markets Practice has helped clients close more than $1 trillion in financing transactions over the last five years, including many precedent-setting financings.

Mr. Frankel has been repeatedly recognized as a leading finance lawyer by international legal and financial publications, including IFLR 1000 and The Legal 500. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his A.B. from Duke University, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with distinction in economics.
