Chicago healthcare executive defends against federal health care fraud prosecution

Jones Day secured a pretrial diversion agreement on behalf of Dr. Heather Bergdahl, a former hospital executive charged in a $16 million federal health care fraud prosecution in the Northern District of Illinois. The government was additionally threatening to charge Dr. Bergdahl in a related case involving an alleged $300 million fraudulent Covid-19 testing scheme that the U.S. Attorney's Office described as "part of the largest national health care fraud enforcement action in Department of Justice history -and the largest ever in the Northern District of Illinois."
