Jones Day partner David J. Feder named to Daily Journal "Top 40 Under 40" list
Litigator David J. Feder has been named to the Daily Journal's 2025 "Top 40 Under 40" list, which recognizes young attorneys whose legal skill, leadership, and community impact are shaping the future of California's legal profession.
A first-in-his-class graduate of Harvard Law School and former U.S. Supreme Court clerk to Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, Mr. Feder has argued numerous motions and appeals in state and federal courts across the country. In recent years, he has served as lead appellate counsel in a complex multidistrict product liability litigation, where he spearheaded more than 200 briefs and motions for a Fortune 100 company. He is also currently leading various environmental cases for a global leader in the aerospace industry under the California Environmental Quality Act and the Clean Water Act, among other provisions. Mr. Feder has litigated matters across a variety of other areas—including constitutional law; federal statutory law such as the Alien Tort Statute, Anti-Terrorism Act, and ERISA; and state statutory law, including California's Unfair Competition Law.
Mr. Feder co-authored Justice Gorsuch's New York Times bestseller, A Republic, If You Can Keep It, and has written scholarship cited in the U.S. Supreme Court and leading law reviews. He regularly speaks at law schools on topics such as legal advocacy, writing, and clerkships. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing domestic-violence survivors, military veterans, and individuals asserting religious-liberty rights.
