Leigh Krahenbuhl represents companies and their directors and officers in high-stakes government and internal investigations and counsels clients on complex corporate compliance matters. She has deep experience conducting sensitive U.S. and cross-border investigations for clients facing criminal, civil, and regulatory compliance issues and advising clients on related crisis management and media relations strategies. Leigh has successfully led negotiations with a wide range of government agencies resulting in favorable resolutions for clients, including declinations in potential criminal matters and other decisions not to pursue regulatory action.
In particular, Leigh has handled a number of significant environmental investigations and has defended clients in related matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Leigh also has investigated and defended allegations of financial, securities, health care, and procurement fraud; bribery and other corrupt conduct, including potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA); money laundering; trade secret theft; forced labor; and False Claims Act (FCA) violations. As a part of these representations, Leigh often advises clients on complex data management, privilege, and data privacy issues.
Leigh also has conducted highly sensitive investigations on behalf of several major universities involving allegations of sexual misconduct, data reporting issues, and off-channel communications.
Leigh currently serves as general counsel to the City of Chicago Police Board, where she advises on legal issues and counsels the Board on navigating a court-appointed monitor.
